CITY OF SANDUSKY
PUBLIC ART MASTER PLAN

LEARN MORE

WHAT IS PUBLIC ART?

Public Art helps us celebrate our heritage, communicate our direction, and characterize our sense of place.

Art can be used to activate a space and invigorate an economy, across all demographics.

Thoughtfully implemented art can define “Sandusky” to ourselves and convey our spirit and competitive advantages to visitors and investors.

WHY DOES SANDUSKY NEED A PUBLIC ART PLAN?

The Sandusky Public Art Master Plan can help integrate and unite our community together through defining and projecting our signature to the world. Our plan will set the standard for how we begin to implement and enjoy public art, while also celebrating our community’s hospitality and artistic expressions.

WHAT WILL THE PLAN CONTAIN?

The Sandusky Public Art Master Plan will articulate goals, identify resources and proposed strategies, timelines, and cost estimates for funding, placement, creation and maintenance of public art in Sandusky. The Public Art Master Plan will contain multiple facets, including:

• Summary of research, observations, and community outreach

• Summary of relevant, unique, cultural characteristics, elements, and aspirations of Sandusky

• Suggestions and justification of themes or essence of the community’s unique character to highlight or address through public art installations

• Suggestions and justification of the placement of artwork at specific sites to support and enhance the community’s goals

• Summary of funding models

• A clear strategy that includes priorities for short, medium, and long-term implementation

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE?

June - August 2018: Public Workshops

August - November 2018: Public Art Master Plan writing
