WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

Chamblee is developing its first Arts Master Plan, and we need your help shaping it!

The Chamblee Arts Master Plan will help us to better express the uniqueness and artistic vitality of Chamblee by setting the standard and strategic direction for how we continue to implement and enjoy arts and culture in our community.

Arts and Culture helps us celebrate our heritage; communicates our direction; and characterizes our sense of place. Thoughtfully implemented public art and cultural programing will define Chamblee to ourselves and project our special qualities and competitive advantages to visitors and investors. In this way, our Arts Master Plan doubles as an important economic development tool.

The plan will define three main outcomes that will help our City Council as they make decisions regarding arts & culture:

• REACH: How do we create a robust and inclusive Arts and Culture program in Chamblee?
• DEPTH: How do we ensure effectiveness?
• INVESTMENT: How do we bring new resources to the City of Chamblee and its residents?

The people of Chamblee are creative, spirited, and ingenious, and that’s what we are trying to capture as we develop this plan.

So… we need your input!

DEFINING ARTS AND CULTURE

Arts & Culture can be visual media or performing arts. They can be commissioned by a public entity, a private entity under public requirements or initiated by an artist using physical spaces formally or informally and permanently or temporarily visible in a publicly accessible realm. For the purposes of the Chamblee Arts Master Plan, “Arts & Culture” falls into the following categories:

• City initiated and implemented projects
• Private developers’ public art installations
• Donations to the City
• Arts Programing and Arts Organizations located in the City

The City of Chamblee is a giant gallery with everything from restaurant walls, bus stop shelters, utility boxes, City Hall, office windows, planters and awnings used as canvases.
